Not sure if you are still current?

Free expiry check

Not sure when your ALS 2 certificate runs out?

You are not alone. Most clinicians find out the week their credentialing paperwork is due, and by then it is often too late. ARC provider certificates last four years from the last day of your original course, and the ARC allows no leniency on that date.

Tell us the month you certified and we will work out where you stand. It takes a second, and nothing is saved unless you choose to contact us.

This is a guide only. You remain responsible for confirming your own eligibility, and we verify certificate status before accepting a recertification registration.

What You Will Practise

Most clinicians do not lack knowledge. They lack repetition under pressure. These days are built around doing, not listening.

01

The deteriorating patient

Structured ABCDE assessment and escalation, before an arrest rather than after it.

02

Rhythm recognition

Shockable and non shockable rhythms, and the life threatening arrhythmias in between.

03

Airway management

Adjuncts, supraglottic devices, ventilation and oxygenation under time pressure.

04

Manual defibrillation

Pad placement, energy selection, charge cycles and calling the room safe.

05

Arrest pharmacology

Drug, dose and timing, and the reversible cause you are treating while you give it.

06

Special circumstances

Asthma, anaphylaxis, pregnancy, drowning, hypothermia and toxicological arrest.

07

Leading the team

Closed loop communication, allocating roles, debriefing and handing over well.

08

Post resuscitation care

Stabilise, transfer and plan. The twenty minutes after circulation returns.

ARC accredited. Certificate valid four years. ALS 1 $749 · ALS 2 $1,750 · Recertification $799 · incl. GST

What People Say

Our patients already tell us the thing that matters most is being listened to. Our candidates say the same.

An excellent telehealth service that gives you timely and cost effective access to repeat scripts and specialist referrals you might otherwise wait weeks to organise. Danny is experienced, professional and respectful.

Darren M., NSW

Making an appointment was a breeze and the Nurse Practitioner truly listened. Getting a specialist referral was simple, with no hoops and no waiting weeks. Quick, smooth and stress free.

Dale G., NSW

Friendly, easy and very affordable. The calls were always on time and they went the extra mile to chase up my results. Cannot recommend Intouch Healthcare enough.

Heidi H., NSW

        Frequently Asked Questions

Which course is right for me?

If you want the skills to manage a patient through the immediate crisis, start with ALS 1 at $749. If you are expected to lead a resuscitation or you work in critical care, book ALS 2 at $1,750. You do not have to do ALS 1 first, though ALS 2 assumes a higher level of knowledge and recent exposure to critical events. If you already hold a current ALS 2 certificate, the one day recertification is $799. Not sure? Send us your role and certificate history and we will tell you honestly which one you need.

My ALS 2 certificate has expired. Can I still do the one day recertification?

No, and we would rather tell you now than at the door. Eligibility requires a current ARC ALS 2 or Resuscitation Council UK ALS provider certificate, and those expire four years from the last day of your original course. The ARC allows no leniency. If yours has lapsed you will need the full two day ALS 2 course at $1,750 rather than the $799 recertification. We check certificate status before accepting a registration, so it is worth checking your expiry date early.

Is my certificate recognised outside Australia?

Yes. The ARC and the Resuscitation Council UK co badge these courses, so your certificate is cross recognised by the Resuscitation Council UK, the New Zealand Resuscitation Council and the European Resuscitation Council. Certificates from those councils are likewise recognised by the ARC. It is valid for four years.

        What preparation is expected?

ALS 2 candidates receive the course manual a month before the course and complete a pre course multiple choice paper, handed in on arrival. That paper does not count towards your final assessment. Read the manual properly. The course is intensive, and the time together is best spent on skills, scenarios and leadership rather than lectures.

        Will I be assessed?

Yes, and it is done supportively. Assessment is continuous and includes simulations covering airway management, initial assessment and resuscitation, and cardiac arrest scenarios. Instructors coach you through the scenarios and give you honest feedback along the way, so most candidates tell us assessment felt like part of the teaching rather than a separate hurdle.

        Do I earn CPD?

The ARC advanced life support courses are recognised for continuing professional development by many colleges and organisations. Requirements vary between colleges, states and employers, so please check the current position with your own professional body. Your certificate is issued after the course and can be recorded against your registration requirements.

Do you run courses at our hospital or clinic?

Yes. Onsite delivery is available across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast for group bookings. We run the scenarios using your equipment and your escalation protocols, which is the fastest way to improve how your team responds in real life. Request a group quote and we will propose some dates.

        What should I wear?

Neat casual clothing and enclosed footwear. There is hands on CPR and floor work, so dress for movement.
